Jarius Page (born June 10, 1991) is an American higher education professional, business owner, civil rights and social justice activist. He served as a college representative for two historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) including Saint Augustine's University and Livingstone College from 2015 to 2020.
Early life[edit]
Jarius Page was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, the son of John Page and Denise Page. He grew up with his mother, father, and older brother Justin Page (born 1987).[1]
Academia[edit]
Page was hired immediately after he graduated from Saint Augustine's University. During his tenure, Page along with staff was able to maintain enrollment despite the university accreditation status. The university incoming enrollment increased from 211 students in 2015 to 435 students in 2017.[2] According to Mr. Withers director of admissions, "Page is one of the "foot soldiers" in SAU's recruiting efforts".[2] He also states "We all provide a different aspect…The thing about Mr. Page is that, number one, he just graduated from the college and that is something tangible that students can see and feel. Number two, he really cares about students and cares about providing customer service. This is more than just a job for him.[2]
In 2019 Page became an Assistant Director of Admissions for Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. He now works for Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.[3]
Business owner[edit]
Page is the Founder and CEO of JP Enterprises USA.[4] JP Enterprise is a faith-based Limited Liability Corporation located in Raleigh, North Carolina.[5] In 2021, Page released an urban fragrance and fashion brand name PRESTIGE. According to PRESTIGE "The company main focus was to create a fragrance that would attract men of all ages and nationalities".[6]
Political career[edit]
In 2013, Page served as a student panelist for the Voter's Education Forum at Saint Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina. The forum discussed how to improve transportation for low-income families and how to assist private institutions.[7] This was the beginning of his political career. In January 2013, Jarius interned with the North Carolina General Assembly, for the House of Representatives, serving State Representative, Elmer Floyd, District 43, Cumberland County.[3] After working with Representative Elmer Floyd, He participated and became a Democracy Fellow with Common Cause North Carolina.[8] While working with Common Cause, Page along with classmates and colleagues from North Carolina State University, canvassed Wake County communities encouraging citizens to vote.[9] Later Page was interviewed by a statewide radio station, Public News Service where he expressed his concern about voting rights and challenges citizens face with new voting legislation.[10]
