Faria Abdullah (born 28 May 1998[1]) is an Indian actress who works in Telugu films. Originally a theatre artiste, she debuted in film with Jathi Ratnalu (2021), a success. For that role, she was nominated for the Best Debutant Actress award at the South Indian International Movie Awards.

Abdullah went on to portray lead roles in the films Like, Share & Subscribe and Ravanasura, and portrays the main character in the streaming series The Jengaburu Curse.

Early and personal life[edit]

Faria Abdullah was born on 28 May 1998 in Hyderabad, India to Sanjay Abdhullah and Kausar Sultana.[2][3] She comes from a Hindi-Urdu speaking family and learnt Telugu for her film career.[4]

Career[edit]

Abdullah originally worked as a theatre actress.[5][4] In 2021, she switched to film, with the Telugu release Jathi Ratnalu.[6][7][8] Regarding her role, Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu wrote that "Faria has a good screen presence and holds her own among the three madcaps".[9] In an interview in 2023 she declared that her public image had remained closely associated with that role,[10] for which she was nominated at the 10th South Indian International Movie Awards, held in 2022.[11] She then played lead roles in the films Like, Share & Subscribe in 2022,[12] and Ravanasura in 2023.[13] The same year Abdullah made her first appearance on a streaming series, The Jengaburu Curse, in which she plays the main character: the series, her debut in Hindi, was released on 9 August 2023.[14][15][16][17]

In 2022, Abdullah's Tamil debut film, Valli Mayil directed by Suseenthiran, was announced.[18] The film is in post-production as of late 2023.[19][20][21] The release of a teaser confirmed she plays a lead role in the film.[22] On 22 March 2023, a first look of Allari Naresh's film, tentatively titled Naresh61, was released, and it was revealed that Abdullah also starred in the film.[23][24][25]
