Johanna Bennett (Benedetto; born January 9, 1970) is an American producer of film festivals. She is the daughter of the singer Tony Bennett and actress Sandra Elaine Grant [1].

Biography[edit]

Johanna Bennett, daughter of the singer Tony Bennett, was named after her father's 1964 hit "When Joanna Loved Me."[2]. Johanna worked as an actor, securing roles in off-Broadway productions and a role in the 1990 film classic, Goodfellas [3]. In 2009 Johanna co-founded the First Time Fest[4]. This film festival celebrates the inaugural works of directors, producers, and filmmakers worldwide, drawing participants from diverse nations such as Argentina, Australia, Belarus, and Mongolia. In 2013, the festival featured by Martin Scorsese, who presented the first John Huston Award for outstanding achievement in cinema to Darren Aronofsky[5].

Johanna created "First Exposure," a platform within the festival that highlights seminal works by renowned directors, followed by discussions with film industry stalwarts like Sophia Coppola and Julie Taymor[6]. She initiated the "Producers Panel" to educate new filmmakers on creative and practical methods of film production[7]. The festival’s "From Rock to Score" panel included musicians like Slash and Duncan Sheik discussing the transition from performing artists to film composers[8].

Johanna is active in her role with the We Are Family Foundation, where she supports young leaders dedicated to social change and innovation[9].

Johanna joined Tony Bennett at major public milestone events, including the 2005 Kennedy Center Honors. She accompanied him on the red carpet in 2016 during the gala for his 90th birthday in New York City [10].

Johanna currently resides in New York City.
