Karen Kunc (b. 1952 Omaha, Nebraska)[1] is an American book artist and printmaker known for her woodblock prints.[2][3]

Early life and education[edit]

She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Ohio State University.[4]

Career[edit]

She taught at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln beginning in 1983 until her retirement in 2020.[5] She is the 2007 recipient of the Southern Graphics Council's Printmaker Emeritus Award.[6] In 2023 the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art held a solo exhibition of her work.[7] Kunc established Constellation Studios, a live/work project in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska, in 2013.[8]

Kunc's work is in the Art Institute of Chicago,[9] the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art,[10] the National Museum of Women in the Arts[11] the Smithsonian American Art Museum,[1] and the Walker Art Center.[12]
