Barton (Bart) David Tobener (born April 28, 1970) is a former American racing driver. He was active from 1998 to 2022. He is known for is achievements in drag racing.[1]

Racing career[edit]

Early racing career[edit]

Tobener's interest in racing began during his teenage years, initially experimenting with mini import trucks before transitioning to motorcycles. His early experiences at Moroso Motorsports Park in Florida laid the foundation for his future success in racing.[1]

Association with UPR Products[edit]

Tobener's career took a significant turn when he joined UPR Products, initially working as a mechanic. Under the guidance of industry veterans like Mark Mainiero, Tobener honed his skills in engine building and race car tuning. His tenure at UPR Products played a crucial role in shaping his racing career.[2]

Success in NMRA and NMCA[edit]

Throughout his career, Tobener has achieved numerous victories and championships in events organized by the National Mustang Racers Association (NMRA) and the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA). His competitive drive and dedication to racing have earned him respect within the racing community.[3]

Historic achievements[edit]

In 2014, Tobener made history by becoming the first driver to clock a 7-second pass in NMRA Edelbrock Renegade, securing the championship title.[4] His success on the track reflects his willingness to embrace new technologies, such as Holley EFI.[5]

Tobener Motorsports[edit]

In recent years, Tobener has expanded his involvement in the racing community by establishing his own shop, Tobener Motorsports.[6] The shop offers a range of services, including performance upgrades, parts sales, and consulting.
