Jasper Independent School District

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jasper Independent School District is a public school district based in Jasper, Texas. Jasper ISD serves the city of Jasper.

History[edit]

In 1948 the district absorbed an area formerly in the Vernon County Line Common School District which had only white students.[1]

In 2009, the school district was rated "recognized" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]

Effective the 2022–2023 school year the district will hold classes four days per week instead of five.[3]

In March 2022, the school district approved a new academic calendar featuring a four-day school week. However, Jasper ISD has since decided to return to a traditional five-day week, starting in the 2024-2025 school year, as outlined in their agenda.[4]
