Antoni Filter i Rossell was born on May 6, 1706 in Ordino. His father Joan Fiter was a knight of the great house of Fiter d'ares, and his mother Joanna Ogne Rossel belonged to one of the oldest Andorean families.[3] His father died in June 1718, and four years later his widow remarried Francesco de Llara. In 1725, Anthony studied at the school of Sant Andreu (Jesuits) in Seo-d'Urgell, where his cousin Anthony Moles y Rossell worked as a professor of decretals.[4] On November 1, 1725, when he entered the University of Aragon d'Osca, where he was professor of Canons, Anthony Moules and Rossell and where he studied law for four years. He received his doctorate in 1731.[5] After the death of his stepfather in 1729, Anthony Fiter, as heir, acted as the manager of the Rossell house, responsible for the financial management of the complex estate, and in 1737 he took up the position of episcopal vicar of Andorra. In 1741, there was a serious family conflict when the mother named Anton's brother, Pere, as the heir due to Anton's refusal to marry.[3] In 1748, Anthony completed the writing of the book, which he wrote by order of the General Council. His work is a collection of Andorran privileges, laws and customs. Over the years, it has become a benchmark for lawyers, politicians and historians.[5][6]
