Jonapur is a census town in South district in the Indian state of Delhi.


About/History[edit]

Mainly the people residing in Jonapur are Hindu GURJARS of AMBAWATA surname. Jonapur is also rich in resources. The place has a posh neighbourhood with kind and generous people. The area is surrounded with nature and have luxury farmhouses all around. This village once had a curse of being a very small village which will not expand further, But in 1971 when Shri Baba Neem Karoli visited the village he removed the curse from this beautiful village. In this village he also constructed a temple which is very famous in today's time. This village was founded by Sri Baba Mendu Ambawata Gurjar and the people living here are the descendants of him. This village have a courageous and brave history.

The people of this place are brave, courageous and patriotic as most of the them are gurjars which is a warrior caste (Kshatriyas) and have lost many young kids for their country.

Location[edit]

The town gets counted in the South Delhi region but the Haryana border is just few kilometers away from it. The closest places after the Haryana border from the village is Gurgaon and Faridabad, Which are just 15-20 minutes away. Asola Fatehpur Beri, Ghitorni, Dera-Mandi, Aya-Nagar, Sultanpur are some of the neighbouring villages of Jonapur.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Jonapur had a population of 7,419. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Jonapur has an average literacy rate of 62%, higher than the national average of 59.5% male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 51%. In Jonapur, 16% of the population is under 0–6 years of age.
