Narcoparamilitary

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Narcoparamilitary is a term thatrefers to illegal armed groups created by drug traffickers in order to defend their control over drug crops and to defend themselves against extortion by armed groups of both the Left (Guerrillas) and the Right (Paramilitaries), something that the two sides call respectively "Revolutionary Tax" and "Gramage Tax". In this way a Narco-paramilitary group can be the enemy of a Paramilitary group.[1][2][3][4]
