Ethnicity[edit]

The Haputale Polling Division has a Sinhalese majority (53.3%) and a significant Indian Tamil population (37.7%) . In comparison, the Badulla Electoral District (which contains the Haputale Polling Division) has a Sinhalese majority (73.0%) and a significant Indian Tamil population (18.5%) [1]
