Suleman Khan is the secretary of the Ministry of Education and is in charge of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.[1][2][3] He is the former chairman of the Land Reform Board.[4]

Early life[edit]

Khan passed his SSC from Mahishasura BK High School and HSC from Dhaka College in 1982 and 1984 respectively.[5] He did his bachelor's and master's in accounting from the University of Dhaka in 1987 and 1988 respectively.[6] He did his master's degree in economics at the Yamaguchi University.[5]

Career[edit]

Khan joined the 11th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1991 as an administration cadre.[5] He was Assistant Commissioner of Land in Sylhet Division.[5][7] Then promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner.[5]

In 2005, Khan was the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Shivalaya Upazila in Manikganj District.[8]

In 2016, Khan was promoted to Joint Secretary and made Director of Health Economics Unit.[5]

Khan was transferred from the additional secretary of Health Service Division to the Ministry of Commerce in August 2020.[9]

Khan was promoted from additional secretary to secretary in October 2021.[10] He was transferred from the Ministry of Commerce and made chairman of the Land Reform Board.[10] He is a member of the trustee board of Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management.[11]

Personal life[edit]

Khan's wife, Salma Chowdhury Ruma, was a member of parliament from a women's reserved seat of the Awami League.[6] His father-in-law, Abdul Wajed Chowdhury, was a member of parliament of the Awami League.[6]
