Asalem Rural District (Persian: دهستان اسالم)[3] is in Asalem District of Talesh County, Gilan province, in northwestern Iran.[4] It is administered from the city of Asalem.[5]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 20,226 in 4,765 households.[6] There were 16,117 inhabitants in 4,638 households at the following census of 2011.[7] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 16,442 in 5,146 households. The most populous of its 29 villages was Bala Deh, with 2,360 people.[2]
