VV DOVO, short for Voetbalvereniging Door Ons Vrienden Opgericht, is a football club from Veenendaal, Netherlands.
History[edit]
The club was founded in 1933 as DVO and later changed its name to DOVO to set itself apart from a nearby club with an identical name.[1] DOVO won section championships in lower leagues in 1936, 1937,1938, 1948, 1949, 1958, 1960, and 1967.
In 1970 DOVO promoted to the Eerste Klasse, where it initially won sections in 1975, 1977, 1979, 1989, 1991, and 1994.[1] In 1974, it drew national attention by beating NSVV from Numansdorp, 11–0, while pointing out that DOVO players had made mistakes.[2] In 1979 it also became the Saturday Champion of the Netherlands.[1] From 1996 to 20017 it played in the Hoofdklasse, except for two seasons back in the Eerste when it took Eerste Klasse championships (2007 and 2011). In 1999 and 2004 DOVO won section championships in the Hoofdklasse. Since 2017, DOVO plays in the Derde Divisie.[3]
In 2023, DOVO qualified for the Tweede Divisie promotion playoffs.[4] However, they lost 5–3 on aggregate to VVSB in the first round.[5]

Relations with other teams[edit]
In 2012, DOVO signed a partnership agreement with SBV Vitesse. This agreement was amended and renewed, for indefinite duration, in 2019.
DOVO has a rivalry with another Veenendaal football club, GVVV. In 2019, an indoors game between the clubs was ended after several physical fights.[6]

Op 23 april 1933 richtten een aantal Veenendaalse buurtvrienden de voetbalclub DVO op. Ten einde verwarring met een naburige naamgenoot te voorkomen, werd deze naam later gewijzigd in DOVO (Door Ons Vrienden Opgericht). De Utrechtse club speelt tot op heden een toonaangevende rol in de top van het zaterdagvoetbal. Gedurende het verblijf in de hoogste afdeling heeft de club vijf titels behaald (1975, 1977, 1979, 1989 en 1991), alsmede één zaterdagtitel (1979).

Door een 0-1 zege bij SteDoCo heeft DOVO de promotie naar de derde divisie bereikt. In Hoornaar moest de thuisploeg een 3-0 achterstand uit de eerste wedstrijd in Veenendaal weg zien te werken.

Een zaalvoetbalduel tussen DOVO en GVVV is vrijdagavond voortijdig gestaakt na diverse vechtpartijen. De twee clubs deden mee aan het jaarlijkse Jan Rebergen-toernooi in Veenendaal. GVVV overweegt niet meer deel te nemen aan het evenement dat ieder jaar veel voetbalfans trekt.
