Sumar Rural District (Persian: دهستان سومار) is in Sumar District of Qasr-e Shirin County, Kermanshah province, Iran.[3]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 227 in 64 households.[4] There were 1,515 inhabitants in 80 households at the following census of 2011.[5] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 377 in 36 households. The most populous of its 30 villages was Naft Shahr, with 184 people.[2]
