Tahir Tofiq (Kurdish: تایەر تۆفیق, Arabic: طاهر توفیق, also Tayer Tofiq) (1922–1987) was a popular Kurdish musician and singer. He was born in the city of Koya around Arbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. He began singing at an early age, according to himself when he was attending primary school. He found his voice and got a lot of attention while attending Qoran school were he just to recite the Qoran. With the raw vocal of his, people started to notice him, and he soon after built a name for himself with the songs he performed. And the attitude he had, people describe him as a very high valued man. Tahir Tofiq became very famous and became sort of an inspiration for kurds all over Kurdistan, with his songs and his patriotism for the Kurdish language and the Kurdish culture. The songs he performed had a lot of meaning for the Kurdish people, just for the fact that they were songs about Kurdish culture and how Kurds have been treated unfairly. He was famous for his songs and he is now well known by kurds for his patriotism and for the folk music. He is seen as a language and one of the most important parts to the Kurdish music.
