Amiruddin Shah is the first male ballet dancer from India to excel in classical ballet and has achieved notable milestones. He has been compared to the protagonist of "Billy Elliot" BBC World Service. Shah has danced professionally with the Miami City Ballet, in Miami he worked with superstar ballet choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, in the North American premiere of Swan Lake.

The Royal Ballet School[edit]

He also holds the distinction of being the first Indian-born dancer to receive a scholarship from The Royal Ballet School.

Lynn Seymour Award[edit]

In recognition of his expressive dance skills, Shah was awarded the prestigious Lynn Seymour Award in 2019.

Netflix original film "Yeh Ballet"[edit]

Additionally, Shah's life story has inspired a Netflix original movie "Yeh Ballet," which showcases his journey and influence. Amiruddin Shah's accomplishments and dedication to his craft serve as an inspiration to aspiring dancers and artists worldwide. Although he did not appear in the film, Shah's influence on its creation is significant.

A Stranger in New York[edit]

"A Stranger in New York" is a short silent black and white dance film, written and co-directed by Amiruddin Shah and Ben Dolphin. The film heavily features operatic music by renowned opera masters. Half of the pre-production took place in Los Angeles, California, and the principal photography took place in Manhattan, New York in December 2023. TAD Pictures Releasing, short for "THEARTDOOR," was founded by Shah in 2018 London, UK. Releasing in 2024 "A Stranger in New York" in association with Independent Studio RUMUR Films, founded by Micheal Galinsky, director Suki Hawley, and business partner David Beilinson RUMUR Films is based in Miami and North Carolina and with All Street Production.

The Red Dress[edit]

"THE RED DRESS" is a fantasy dance film written, produced, and directed by Shah. "The film revolves around the life of a young artist "Abramo," who draws inspiration from his muse, Ginevra, a mysterious woman introduced to him by Carlo, who initially seems to be just delivering newspapers. Carlo is more than meets the eye." The film is produced by Erol Liguori, a former ballet dancer and owner of the largest Cuban restaurant in the Bronx. The principal photography took place in the Bronx-Fieldstone and Riverdale, Fleetwood. The dance section was choreographed by the legendary ballet dancer and choreographer Balanchine's protege John Clifford, with costumes designed by Christina Giannini. The dance music by Karl Moraski, and the original motion picture soundtrack by Mal Stein. "THE RED DRESS" is produced under the umbrella of TAD Pictures Releasing, in association with RUMUR Films and co-produced with award-winning independent filmmaker Catherine Tambini.

The Royal Opera House[edit]

Shah has performed as a leading soloist in the Royal Ballet's "Elite Syncopations" at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
