Princess Polly is an online fashion retailer headquartered in Australia and the United States, particularly popular among teenagers and Generation Z consumers. The brand is recognized as the sixth favorite shopping website for upper-income teens in the United States, according to the Piper Sandler Taking Stock With Teens 2023 survey.[1]

Princess Polly was founded in 2005, as a single store in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, Australia. The brand launched an online store in 2010. This move marked the beginning of its transformation into a global fashion entity.[2]

In 2018, Princess Polly's growth trajectory took a significant turn when the U.S.-based company a.k.a. Brands, then known as Excelerate Brands, acquired a majority stake in the business. a.k.a  Brands is known for investing in next generation retail brands it believes have high-growth potential and the capability to expand globally.[3]

Online presence[edit]

Princess Polly has a strong presence on social media platforms, especially TikTok and Instagram.[2] With over 890,000 followers on TikTok, and 2.2 million on Instagram, the brand engages with its audience through collaborations with thousands of social media influencers. These partnerships have been crucial in driving engagement and popularity among its young consumer base.[4]

Sustainability[edit]

In 2023, Princess Polly became the second fashion brand in Australia to have its greenhouse gas emission targets approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).[5][6] Princess Polly is also a member of the UN Global Compact.[7]

Celebrity partnerships[edit]

Princess Polly’s partnerships with celebrities and social media influencers have gained international visibility. In 2021, Princess Polly partnered with Emma Chamberlain to curate a collection of her favorite looks. The brand has also been spotted on celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, and Sydney Sweeney. Popular influencers including Alix Earle, the D’Amelio sisters, and Addison Rae are also known fans of the brand.[2][4]

Stores[edit]

In 2023, Princess Polly launched in retailers Pacsun and Nordstrom.[8][9] Shortly afterward, Princess Polly opened its first U.S retail store in Los Angeles, California, with plans to expand the retail footprint further in the U.S. with multiple stores planned to open in 2024 and 2025 [10][11]
