"Oh My Tsundere! Love is a Separate Volume"

Oh! My Boss! Love is a Separate Volume is Japanese romantic drama which was broadcast in the TBS Television (Japan) Tuesday 10 slot (22:00 - 21:54, JST) from 12 January to 16 March 2021. [1][2]

Synopsis[edit]

Nami Suzuki (Mone Kamishiraishi) was a very ordinary woman who thought that normal was the best for everything. Wanting to marry her childhood friend and unrequited love, Kenya Hioki (Atsuhiro Inukai), she moved from her hometown of Kumamoto to Tokyo. And she had a job interview at the equipment management department of a major publishing house, Otowado Publishing.

Nami was on her way to a job interview when she happened to meet a man(Yuta Tamamori) on a bridge. The bench there had a fresh coat of paint on it, and Nami unknowingly sat down and stained her suit for the interview. Nami lamented that she won't be able to go to the interview, so the man bought Nami some luxury brand clothes and gave her a luxury brand bracelet that he wore[3] as a good-luck charm to help her get through the job interview.

After an interview, she was hired in the editorial department of a fashion magazine MIYAVI and appointed as a assistant to the editor in chief, Reiko Horai (Nanao (model)), who had just returned from Paris. The assistant to the beautiful and hard-working Reiko was extremery busy and Nami was dissatisfied, and that she was like a scullery maid. However, Reiko reprimands Nami for not being serious about her work.

Then, Nami met the man who met on the bridge again. He identified himself as Junnosuke. He asked Nami to pose as his girlfriend and meet his elder sister. The sister who she met was Reiko. Their father were the presidents of one of Japan's leading paper company, and they came from very wealthy families.

Trouble was constant in the editorial department of MIYAVI, but each time they successfully overcame it by working out a solution together with Reiko's ideas and their colleagues in the editorial department. Under these circumstances, Nami was not content with just being normal, but began to find her work interesting and actively engaged in her work.

Nami was severely heartbroken by her childhood friend Kenya, but she and Junnosuke later developed feelings for each other and became lovers. Junnosuke was longing for a career as a photographer and worked in Tokyo, occasionally holding exhibitions, but he was never recognised by the public. Later, Nami was upset when Junnosuke's ex-lover Rio Hasumi (Kana Kurashina) appeared in front of her, and Ryota Nakazawa (Shotaro Mamiya), a senior member of the editorial department who had feelings for Nami, confessed his love to her. However, after each of these various trials, their romantic relationship deepened.

The magazine was in a pinch because of the effects of the absorption of Otowado Publishing, which caused the magazine to cease publication. Reiko's quick thinking helped boost sales, but the company being absorbed removed Reiko as editor-in-chief. A new editor-in-chief arrived to take her place, but the job did not go well, and Reiko eventually returned again in response to the editorial staff's requests.

Junnosuke decided to give up his job as a photographer and returned to his hometown of Kanazawa to take over his father's business, and proposed to Nami. Nami, who had longed to get married, once readily agreed, but her feelings began to waver as she was just beginning to find the editorial work interesting. Junnosuke notices Nami's wavering feelings and decides to leave her.

Shocked by her break-up with Junnosuke, Nami was depressed for a while but concentrated on her work. Later, Reiko told her that Junnosuke had decided not to take over his father's business and was leaving for Cambodia to become a photographer. Before leaving for abroad, Junnosuke dropped by the editorial office and handed her an engagement ring, asking her to wait until he returned home as a full-fledged photographer, to which Nami agreed.

Three years later, Nami left the Miyabi editorial department and took a job at a company where Reiko had already changed jobs and is the editor-in-chief. She heard that the billboard for Cambodia tourism that Junnosuke filmed is in Shibuya, and went to see it, but Junnosuke was not there. She went to the bench on the bridge where they met. She finds Junnosuke there, who had returned to Japan, and they met again and kissed each other.
