Schizochytrium limacinum is a species of thraustochytrids first isolated from a mangrove area in the western Pacific Ocean. It differs from other Schizochytrium species in its limaciform amoeboid cells, the size of its zoospores, and its assimilation profile of carbon sources.[1]
