Hussain Shaheem

Hussain Shaheem is Maldivian politician and member of the 19th session of People's Majlis from South Henveiru Constituency and he is a member of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).[1][2] Shaheem is the MDP's Parliamentary Group deputy leader.

Career[edit]

He was elected to the position after defeating MP Ilyas Labeeb with 38 to 25 votes in the second round of voting following a stalemate in the first round of voting on 18 February 2022. In the parliament, he sponsored several amendment bills including Bill for Amendment to the Prevention of Terrorism Act (No. 32/2015) and Attorney General's Office Bill. He served as  Prosecutor General of Maldives appointed by the MDP and served until 2023 when the party lost government to the opposition party.[3][4][5]
