"Tell Ur Girlfriend" is a song by American rapper and singer Lay Bankz released through Artist Partner Group on February 7, 2024.[1]The track emerged as her commercial breakthrough charting in several countries including the US, where it debuted at 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 and in Canada where it debuted at 64.[1][2]

She performed the song at Rolling Loud on March 15.[citation needed]

Background and composition[edit]

The song was released on February 7, 2024. The track is a R&B song with a tempo of 135 bpm which runs for 2 minutes and 4 seconds. Bankz sings about being in a relationship with another boy, who also has a girlfriend. It subsequently went viral on TikTok aided by a viral dance trend. The song followed a string of viral successes by Bankz on the platform including "Na Na Na", "Doo Doo Blick" and "Ick", the latter of which garnered over 90 million streams on Spotify.[3]

The song garnered instant success on TikTok thanks to a viral dance challenge as well as being used in over a million videos by April 23, 2024.[1]
