The band's roots lie in their mutual interest for punk rock, which sparked their collaboration. Originating from Whittier, a conservative exurb, the band members draw influence from the punk scenes of Los Angeles and other areas.[5]

Debut Album: Free To Eat (2014)[edit]

In 2014, Plague Vendor signed with Epitaph Records and released their debut album, Free To Eat. The album received critical acclaim for its fusion of classic punk rock elements with modern sensibilities.[6]

In her review for the Sydney Morning Herald, Arne Sjostedt remarked on the energy of Plague Vendor's debut album, particularly noting the guitar riffs and vocals that grabbed her attention from the first track, Black Sap Scriptures.[7]This earned band as one of AP's "100 Bands You Need To Know" in 2014.[8]

BLOODSWEAT (2016)[edit]

In 2015, Plague Vendor followed up their debut with the release of their sophomore album, Bloodsweat. Produced by Stuart Sikes, the album further delved deeper into their signature blend of punk, post-punk, and hardcore.[9]

By Night (2019)[edit]

The band released their third studio album, By Night, in 2019. Produced by John Congleton, the album departed from their earlier sound, incorporating elements of synth and electronic drums while retaining the their punk roots.[10]

Musical style[edit]

Plague Vendor's music blends the punk with post-punk sensibilities, incorporating aggressive guitar riffs, rhythms, and anthemic choruses. [11]

Their sound draws inspiration from classic punk rock albums while infusing modern elements, resulting in a sonic palette.[12]

The band classifies their sound as Graveyard Groove, It’s “something that’s on the eerie, darker side” but also “something you can shake it to.[4]
