Vasyl Mykhailovych Kozak (Ukrainian: Василь Михайлович Козак) was born in 1993 in Lviv in western Ukraine. Awarded Hero of Ukraine.

Life[edit]

He graduated from Lviv gymnasium "Prestige".

He is a member of UNION sports karate club. Under the guidance of the honored trainer of Ukraine Anton Nikulin he became the champion of Ukraine, the laureate of the European Cup and a number of other karate competitions.

He received his higher education at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, graduating in 2015.

In 2017, he became a postgraduate student at the university's Department of Criminal Law, and in June 2021 he defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy on "Criminal liability for illegal trafficking of vehicles".[1]

Service activity[edit]

He worked in the SSU office in Uzhhorod. For a long time, he was the head of the Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime.

Record quantities of heroin smuggled into the EU were detained during Kozak's service in the Zakarpattia region.

Many criminals were convicted in various cases and sentenced to prison terms. They are still serving their sentences .[2]

Kozak actively fought against the representatives of the underworld, the so-called lawbreakers and their groups. In particular, he was involved in the arrest and prosecution of a Russian criminal organization in the Zakarpattia region. [3]

Since 2022, after the massive Russian invasion, he participated in many successful operations in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories.
