Classy Crush is the second studio album and first major label album by the Japanese girl group @onefive.[9] It was released on April 17, 2024, by the record label Avex Trax.

Overview[edit]

The title of the album Classy Crush originates from @onefive's group concept, "Japanese Classy Crush".[10] "Classy" refers to old things, stereotypical images and ways of thinking, and conventional ways of doing things.[11] "Crush" expresses @onefive's desire to destroy things of that nature, which hold them back, and to move forward in a new way.[12]

The album represented a shift for @onefive toward the direction of hip hop, especially with the release of the single "Justice Day".[13] Other musical influences included jungle,[7] Jersey club,[7] and Middle Eastern music.[11] Many of the songs depict strong Japanese girls.[14]

The single "Miraizu" (未来図) marked @onefive's major label debut with Avex Trax.[15] It was used as the theme song for the live-action television drama adaptation of the manga If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, which was first broadcast in October 2022.[16] "Chance" was used as the theme song for the film adaptation that followed on May 12, 2023.[17]

In August 2023, "Like A" was featured in a commercial for the Japanese jewelry brand The Kiss.[18] In April 2024, "Mr.Gorgeous" was featured in a commercial for Amazon Prime Video.[19]

Classy Crush was released in two versions, with one containing a Blu-ray disc in addition to the CD.[20] The album charted at number 16 on the weekly Oricon Albums Chart[21] and at number 17 on the weekly Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart.[22]
