Abhirup Dhar is an Indian author and screenwriter.[2][3] He was born in Kolkata, India. His family roots are from Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, India.[4] He was mentioned as ‘a distinguished figure in the realm of horror literature, celebrated for his mastery of the genre’ by Times of India, "most acclaimed name in Indian Horror Writing" by Mid-day[5] and 'the biggest Indian horror writer in the country and one of the most renowned authors who keeps us holding our breath’ by Zee5.[6]

He started his writing career with his first book ‘Once Again… With Love!’ which was about modern-day relationships.[7] His debut in horror writing was with the book ‘Hold That Breath'[7] He is married and has a daughter.

Early life and career[edit]

Abhirup Dhar was born in Kolkata and lived in various towns and cities in India.[1][5][2]

He has worked as a banker for years and is into travel now which comprises his other professional commitments. Dhar has written seven books so far while others are in the pipeline apart from working on movie scripts with notable people. His books have been acquired for screen adaptations too.[8]
