Miss Universe Philippines 2024 will be the fifth edition of the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, to be held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines, on May 22, 2024.

Michelle Dee of Makati will crown her successor at the end of the event. The winner will represent the Philippines at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant to be held in Mexico.

This is the first edition where Contestants from fifty-three localities are chosen by local pageants under the Miss Universe Philippines Accredited Partners Program. The contest will be hosted by Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel and Alden Richards, and there will be performances by Marina Summers and Lola Amour.[1][2]

Selection of participants[edit]

On April 11, 2023, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization announced the launch of a new accredited partners program that would select delegates from the 2024 edition onwards.[3] This allows accredited partners to organize local pageants that will send competitors to the national pageant.[4][5] This replaced the previous system, where applicants underwent a screening process before being confirmed as a candidate for the title.[6][7][8] The national director Shamcey Supsup-Lee, explained that this intended to "even the playing field" by having local organizers providing resources to participants in the pageant. It was compared to that used in Miss USA. Supsup-Lee added that it will "provide women in the provinces with an equal opportunity", noting that previously contestants based in Metro Manila had a financial advantage.[9][10]

As the Miss Universe Organization scrapped the age limit from Miss Universe 2024 onwards, allowing competitors aged 29 and above to compete, while keeping the minimum age to 18.[11][12][9] In light of the change, media outlets cited Jocelyn Cubales, who competed in Miss Universe Philippines – Quezon City at the age of 69, as the first senior citizen to compete in local pageants affiliated with the national pageant.[13][14]

The edition marks the first time in which delegates representing Overseas Filipino Communities will be sent to the pageant.[15] Media outlets including The Philippine Star and the Manila Standard have also noted the presence of "pageant veterans" in the edition,[16][17] citing the participation of Ahtisa Manalo of Quezon, who competed in Miss International 2018; Christi McGarry of Taguig, who competed in Miss Intercontinental 2015; Kris Tiffany Janson of Cebu, who competed in Miss Intercontinental 2014; and Cyrille Payumo of Pampanga, who was crowned as Miss Tourism International 2019.[18][19][20]

Withdrawals and replacements[edit]

Following the press presentation, Natasha Jung of Kananga withdrew for personal reasons.[21] Phoebe Torita, the first runner-up in the local pageant, was announced as her replacement on February 28, 2024.[22] On April 3, the organization announced that Lorraine Ojimba of Quezon City also withdrew from the pageant.[23] Ojimba was replaced by Cam Lagmay, the first runner-up in the local pageant, on April 7.[24]

Joanne Marie Thornley of Angeles,[25] and Kiara Landon of the Filipino community from Washington, United States,[citation needed] also withdrew for personal reasons, both without a replacement.[26]

Location and date[edit]

On April 2, 2024, the organization announced that the coronation night will be held on May 22, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Bay City, Pasay.[27] The sale of tickets for the event are scheduled to begin on April 8.[28] The pageant and its related events will be held under the theme "Love For All".[29][30] The fifty-five competitors were formally introduced at a press presentation on February 18, at the Hilton Manila. This was held concurrently with the appointment ceremonies for the Miss Philippines and Mister Pilipinas Worldwide pageants.[31][32]

National Costume Competition[edit]

Held at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Capitol Gym in the province of Sultan Kudarat, with the theme Flora and Fauna. R'Bonney Gabriel and Marco Gumabao hosted the event where 53 candidates paraded at the Inaul Fashion Show and Governor's Night.[33][34]

Swimsuit competition[edit]

The Miss Universe Philippines Organization chose 8 Acqua Angels and 12 Areté Ambassadors in the swimsuit competition preliminaries at Acqua Boracay resort. Thereafter, on May 4, MUPO selected the 5 swimsuit challenge winners per online poll. The Queens are composed of Dia Mate (Cavite), Patricia Bianca Tapia (Hawaii), Alexie Mae Brooks (Iloilo), Ma. Ahtisa Manalo (Quezon Province), and Janet Hammond (Southern California) who secured spots at the finals.[35] The next online voting is the “Up Close & Personal” personality interviews, by Executive Vice President, Voltaire Tayag.[36]
