V. M. Ummer Master is a prominent politician and social activist hailing from Kozhikode district, known for his affiliation with the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). In the 2016 legislative assembly elections, he contested as the UDF candidate from the Thiruvambady constituency but was defeated by the CPI(M) candidate George M. Thomas, with a margin of 3008 votes.[1]
Political career[edit]
In his political journey, Ummer Master previously served as the MLA of the Koduvally constituency in 2011, securing victory by an impressive margin of 16,552 votes. Notably, he was among the esteemed group of 14 MLAs who achieved a perfect attendance record, actively participating in all 16 sessions of the Assembly during his tenure. Despite his formidable presence in the political arena, he faced defeat in both the 2016 and 2006 assembly elections for the Thiruvambady constituency, contending against the same opponent, George M. Thomas.
