From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Essex Police Museum is a museum in Chelmsford, Essex, covering the history of policing in the county of Essex since 1840, including the Essex Constabulary and borough forces such as those for Colchester and Southend-on-Sea.[1] Established in 1992,[2] It also covers crimes solved by those forces such as the Rayleigh bath chair murder and officers killed in the line of duty such as PC George Gutteridge. Its collections include 16 oil paintings, all but two of which are portraits of modern and historical officers by 20th century Detective Sergeant Jack Bridge.[3][4]
