Edmonton Short Film Festival[edit]

The Edmonton Short Film Festival (ESFF) is a Film festival hosted annually in Edmonton, Canada. The festival was founded in 2012 by Sharlene Millang and Daniel Foreman, and programs a lineup of short films, including music videos, and trailers. [1]

List of Events[edit]

In addition to the annual fall festival, the ESFF also programs workshops, events, and community screenings throughout the year.

  • Community Screenings: Since 2021, ESFF hosts several community screenings throughout the year corresponding to different holidays, including Black History Month[2] and Canada's National Indigenous History Month. These community screenings currently
  • Workshops: ESFF hosts filmmaker workshops as well as industry panel talks with professionals in the film industry.
  • 48 Hr Mobile Device Filmmaking Challenge: ESFF hosts an annual film-making challenge that asks participants to write, shoot, and edit a short film in 48 hours.[3]
  • Alberta Screenwriter Accelerator Program: In 2022, ESFF launched the Alberta Screenwriters Accelerator Program which awards the prize winner the funding and support to produce their script into a professional short film.[4]
