Jalen Green is an American football defensive end for the James Madison Dukes.

Early life and high school[edit]

Green grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel where he lettered in football and basketball. In his high school career, Green completed 103 total tackles (45 solo stops and 61 assisted). Green also made a total of 8.0 sacks making 0.5 sacks per game.[1] He was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at James Madison over offers from Army and Virginia.[2]

College career[edit]

During Green's true freshman season in 2019, he played in 14 games and finished the season with 11 total tackles (four solo stops and seven assisted), two tackles for loss for six yards and 0.5 sacks for a yard. Green missed the entire 2020 season due to an injury he sustained.[3] During the 2021 season, he played in 13 games and finished the season with 14 total tackles (five solo and nine assisted), 2.5 tackles for loss for 14 yards, 2.0 sacks for 13 yards, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.[4]

During the 2022 season, he played in all 11 games and started one of them at defensive end. He finished the season with 22 total tackles (nine solo stops and 13 assisted), 6.0 tackles for loss for 23 yards, 2.5 sacks for 14 yards, one interception and one pass breakup.[5]

During the 2023 season, he played in nine games before suffering through a knee injury during the game against Georgia State that would have him ultimately sit out for the rest of the season.[6] He finished the season with 50 total tackles (23 solo stops and 27 assisted), 21 tackles for loss for 132 yards, 15.5 sacks for 120 yards, one interception, two pass breakups and two forced fumbles.[7]
