Ronald Szymusiak

Ronald Szymusiak is a professor at UCLA, where he researches sleep and Alzheimer's disease. Szymusiak is the editor-in-chief of SLEEP sleep medicine journal.[1]

Szymusiak obtained his Ph.D. in biological psychology from the University of Illinois in 1982 and did his postdoctoral training in neurobiology.[2] In the years 2017-2018[3] and 2021-2023,[4][5] he received a Veterans Affairs Research Career Scientist Award.[6][7] He is a professor at the school of medicine at UCLA.[8] He has worked on sleep disorders and contributed to the understanding of the REMNon-REM Sleep Cycle, hypothalamic control of sleep homeostasis,[9] sleep suppression, and the impact of various factors, such as corticotropin-releasing factor, on sleep.
