Jane MacMaster FTSE is a mechanical, aerospace and systems design engineer, and was Chief Engineer of Engineering Australia from 2020 to 2024.[1]

Education[edit]

MacMaster has a Bachelor of Engineering from Sydney University, graduating in 1993, with first class honours. She also has a Master of Arts in International Relations, from Deakin University (2010),[2] is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (2024).[3]

Career[edit]

MacMaster is a mechanical, aerospace,[4] systems design engineer, working across the whole engineering lifecycle, design and systems engineering.[5]

MacMaster worked as a senior advisor within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.[6] Before becoming Chief Engineer at Engineers Australia (2020–2024), MacMaster developed an approach for complex problem solving, which she taught across Australian universities, and to staff from Commonwealth, as well as State and Territory government departments.[7][8] MacMaster is also a mentor for Science Technology Australia women in STEM programs.[9]

MacMaster is also a director on the Board of the Australian Council of Professions.[10] MacMaster has written about engineering in education.[11]
