Dayytona Fox

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dayytona Fox, born Timothy Johnson III,[1] is a singer and rapper best known for tracks such as "Infatuation," "Shoulder" ft. YRN Lingo, and "tomuchremymartin!!" He's also known as "The Lil Ufo," "Dayytona," and "Daytona Fox," and was virtually unknown before his 2018 feature on "Infatuation," from Takeoff's debut album, The Last Rocket. At the time, he had only appeared on a couple of obscure tracks and had yet to release a song of his own.[2] Since then, he has gone on to release over 35 albums and more than 40 songs.

Early life[edit]

Not much is known about Dayytona's life outside of his music, but he was quoted in a 2020 interview saying, "I'm a foster child, [...] my mom died when I was 12, and my dad has been in jail for [...] forever.[3]" He went on to say that he spent his time in foster homes, group homes, mental hospitals, and juvenile detention growing up. He cites his mom's funeral in 2015 as a turning point in his life, where he decided to be something bigger and proceeded to run away.

Career[edit]

Rise to prominence[edit]

Dayytona Fox rose to prominence following the release of Takeoff's The Last Rocket, where he was featured on the standout song, "Infatuation." There was some initial mystery as to who was featured on the track, as the song did not directly credit him. A few articles[4][5] drew attention to Dayytona, but despite his extensive body of work, his fans still remain largely unfamiliar with the artist's background due to his minimal online presence. Following the success of "Infatuation," Dayytona began releasing music onto his SoundCloud in mid-2019.[6]

Connection to Takeoff[edit]

Dayytona Fox claims to be signed to Takeoff's record label, Quality Control Music, but this has yet to be confirmed by music news outlets. Additionally, it is believed they share a strong connection, with Takeoff acting as a father figure in absence of his biological parents.[7][8]
