Hely is both a given name and a surname, It was first founded in the country Sligo, in the province of Connacht in Northwestern Ireland. The original Gaelic form of the name Hely is "Ó hEalaighthe," which came from the word "ealadhach," meaning "ingenious." Other form of the name is "Ó hEilidhe," which is derived from the word "eilidhe," meaning "claimant."[1]
