Dr. Chef Izzat Husain is an Indian television chef, Unani physician, author and restaurant consultant. He shares his passion for traditional Mughlai and Awadhi cuisine. He is widely respected as an 'authority on Indian cuisine'. Chef Husain tries to promote healthy cooking and inspire people to embrace the rich culinary heritage of India.

His approach to cooking focuses on using natural ingredients and medicinal herbs. He does not use water or artificial colors in his cooking, using minimal oil and incorporating medicinal ingredients in his dishes. He also practices quick cooking methods that use the minimum fuel.

Early life[edit]

Chef Izzat Husain was born in Lucknow, located in the center of Uttar Pradesh, India. He spent most of his formative years here and in Kanpur and Lucknow.[citation needed]

In 1984, Dr. Chef Izzat Husain obtained his bachelor's degree from Unani Medical College in Kanpur, India.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

He started his career as a doctor at a charitable hospital in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Hussain began his culinary career as a freelance chef in India after working in many five-star hotels. He is the recipient of the Best Mughlai Chef of India Award by G-Plus Guwahati Food Awards 2015 at Guwahati by G-Plus Culinary. He is also the brand ambassador for Izzat Pasand, a brand of dry onions and flakes in India.

Hussain's first TV show is QUEST on Traveller XP. He also launched his own food consultancy with "Sheesh Mahal Kitchens".[citation needed]

Personal life[edit]

As a member of the Awadh royal family, Chef Izzat is also related to Wajid Ali Shah, the last Nawab of Awadh. He has a daughter and two sons.

Izzat Ka Khana: Mughlai Cuisine Recipes[edit]

Chef Izzat has authored a cookbook titled "Izzat Ka Khana: Awadhi and Mughlai Cuisine Recipes". The book is the culmination of his lifelong passion for food and his knowledge of the Unani system of medicine. Dr. Chef Izzat Husain believes that food is more than just sustenance; it is a "source of energy that can heal and nourish the human body". As such, his cookbook comprises a collection of recipes for "benefits of the human body". The book features a range of medicinal preparations made with selected herbal and beneficial spices, fruits, and vegetables that have been used in Unani and herbal practices. It has received reviews for its innovative take on traditional recipes and the use of natural ingredients to create dishes that promote good health.[1]

Culinary shows[edit]

In addition to numerous other international culinary and travel channels, Chef Izzat Husain has been on TV series like Channel WIN, Travelers XP, and others.

Chef Izzat Husain is a consultant, with practices in establishing new restaurants, food services, and hospitals. He provides insights into interior decoration, seating arrangements, and the setup of artistic crockery, customized to the unique needs and theme of each establishment.

Chef Izzat trains kitchen staff at hotels, conducting workshops such as Rivaayat and OCLD. He also positions food promotion shows at various five-star properties, including The Oberoi Group, Trident Gurgaon, Shangri-La, Lalit, Ramada, Hyatt and Radisson Group.[citation needed]
