The Folkestone Vikings[1] were an American Football team based in Folkestone, Kent. First formed in 1986, they last played in the South East Conference of the British National Gridiron League Premier Division.

History[edit]

The team was originally formed in 1986 as the Thanet Vikings[2] and competed in the Budweiser League's Central Division 2.

Having already played fixtures in the city of Canterbury, the team made Canterbury Rugby Club its home ahead of the 1988 season and was renamed as the Canterbury Vikings.[3][4]
