Forgotten Experiment (Russian: Сквозь время, lit.'Through Time') is a 2023 English-language Russian science fiction thriller film directed by Alexander Boguslavsky.[1][2] Starring Viktor Dobronravov and Egor Koreshkov, it is about scientists who find themselves in the zone of a mysterious anomaly.[3]

It was theatrically released on June 15, 2023, by National Media Group Film Distribution.[4]

Plot[edit]

Eccentric scientist Ethan Blake and his brother Jacob Blake discover a previously unknown source of energy. They build an aircraft that runs on this innovative "fuel" called Quantamanium and assemble a team for scientific research. On the built unmanned aerial vehicle, the group goes on a trip, but an accident occurs, and they make an emergency landing. All of them are knocked out. When Ethan wakes up, he finds people in soldier uniforms that are carrying their fuel capsule. He takes his gun and starts tracking them. Soon he finds one of them – a female soldier, Tina, bathing in the ocean. He takes her on gunpoint and demands the fuel capsule. She lures him in a trap, and he is knocked out by another soldier. Meanwhile, he complains about fog which Tina seems not to notice. When Ethan wakes again, he notices his other crewmates hiding in an abandoned bunker. Ryan discloses that he has been secretly working with Alizabeth. He says that Alizabeth wanted him to visit this place and the crash-landing was preplanned and deliberately done by Ryan. Ryan also says that Alizabeth wanted Ethan to visit this place. A dispute arises among them, and Ryan leaves the bunker. The mysterious fog starts taking over everything. Ethan starts following Ryan in the fog and notices that whatever thing the fog touches, that thing appears as it was in 1984. There were a lot of soldiers. He even sees his father, Henry Blake. He also notices Tina. But when he corners Tina and questions her about prior events, she denies everything. In the meanwhile, injured Ava was noticed by two soldiers, who take her for treatment. Meanwhile, the fog starts retreating back and everything starts dissolving into it again. Things change back. They theorize that whatever they saw happened in 1984, on the day the experiment was conducted. They also notice a man Rob, who didn't disappear in the fog. When they capture him, they find him crazy due to being lonely for 40 years. Rob seems to know where the fog is coming from. He takes them to the machine which was used by scientists to create Quantamanium. There, Ethan arrogantly announces to the crew that they have discovered the machine which would create the fuel to make them billionaires. There, Ryan jerks them off and says that Ethan is an asshole and hands Ethan Alizabeth's necklace and then walks away in search of Eva. This time when Ethan looks for Ryan, the fog starts taking over, and they find themselves in an attack from soldiers in the 1980s – a secret experiment was conducted here. Ethan and like-minded people decide to continue their research. They do not yet know that their ideas about reality will be completely turned upside down. Being in a zone where the usual laws of physics do not apply will allow each of them to find their destiny and learn a lot about themselves.[5]
