Komsomolsky District (Russian: Комсомо́льский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-one in Ivanovo Oblast, Russia.[1] It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,220 square kilometers (470 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the town of Komsomolsk.[1] Population: 20,263 (2021 Census);[7] 19,482 (2010 Russian census);[2] 22,042 (2002 Census);[8] 27,708 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Komsomolsk accounts for 42.9% of the district's total population.[7]
Administrative and municipal status[edit]
The town of Komsomolsk serves as the administrative center of the district.[1] Prior to the adoption of the Law #145-OZ On the Administrative-Territorial Division of Ivanovo Oblast in December 2010, it was administratively incorporated separately from the district. Municipally, Komsomolsk is incorporated within Komsomolsky Municipal District as Komsomolskoye Urban Settlement.[5]
