For 60,000 pounds is a 1874 Australian stage play.[2]

Melbourne Punch said "Tbe piece does not put us in mind Hamlet, neither does it resemble Much Ado about Nothing, except so far as the plot is concerned. The attraction is the corroboree, and all the mate-upis were exceedingly good."[3]

The Argus felt it siffered from "too great length of some of the dialogues, and, secondly, the excessive prominence\ given to one of the characters not essential to the evolution of the story."[4]

The play was well received by the public.[5]

Premise[edit]

A squatter's daughter has a fortune of 60,000 pounds which a greedy man tries to acquire.[6]
