Giants is the third full-length album by the Los Angeles, California-based band Days Between Stations and features guest appearances by XTC member Colin Moulding, Billy Sherwood of Yes and backing vocalist for Pink Floyd, Durga McBroom. It was released on September 21, 2020.[1]

Background[edit]

Although firmly rooted in the progressive rock genre, Giants ventures into more rock-oriented material.[2] Billy Sherwood had a greater role as a co-writer and co-producer, even contributing his own song The Common Thread to the album. Colin Moulding wrote the lyrics to Goes By Gravity.[citation needed]

Giants was created after Fuentes' father passed away shortly following the release of In Extremis in 2013. Fuentes, recounted that when he was a child, he would look up at his dad as if he were a giant. Samzadeh and Sherwood brought themes of war, science, technology, tribality and religion, and the consequences and conflicts that ensue. Giants is an epic story, with the music and lyrics symbiotic to the cover, painted by Paul Whitehead.[citation needed]

A video for the track Witness the End of the World featuring Durga McBroom was released in fall of 2023.[citation needed]

Reception[edit]

Bill Golembeski, writing for Something Else Reviews, described Giants as "sublime prog rock that ignites the brain synapses back into life".[3] Music Street Journal included Giants on their list of the best albums of 2020,[4] while Sonic Perspectives' Scott Medina wrote, "This is a band not to be missed."[5]
