Alfred Wilhelm Steinke (June 6, 1881 – 1947) was a German ice hockey player.[2] Steinke played on the Germany men's national ice hockey team at the 1928 Winter Olympics.[3] He became one of the oldest male hockey players to compete in the Olympics at the age of 48.[4]

Chelios, who will be 44 on Jan. 25, will also become the third oldest participant in an Olympic hockey tournament when he plays his first game in Turin. According to USA Hockey, only Bela Ordody of Hungary and Alfred Steinke of Germany, who both competed at the age of 48 in the St. Moritz Olympics in 1928, are ahead of the U.S. veteran.
