Sylejman Sylejmani (born January 29, 1953-January 28, 2017) was an Albanian academic and politician. He was a professor at the University of Prishtina, as well as the Education Minister of Gjakova, as well as leader of the Albanian League of Education (LASH).[1] He lead the student protests of Gjakova and was one of the founders of the Democratic League of Kosovo and Kosovo Liberation Army and Kosovo War veteran.[2] He developed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) as a result of torture endured during before and after the Kosovo War.[citation needed]
Sylejmani was born January 29, 1953, in Brovinë, Yugoslavia. He married Fatime Sadik Sylejmani and had 6 children: Merita, Mirlinda, Edmondi, Adelina, Nora, and Qëndresa.[3]
He died January 28, 2017.[3]
