Shri Babu Ram Paliwal (25 October 1907 – 17 November 1978) was an accomplished poet and writer in Hindi and Braj languages. He was best known for his early work ‘Karyalaya Nirdeshika’ for which he received awards by the Government of India and Uttar Pradesh Government. He contributed as Hindi expert in the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Communications, the Government of India. He made significant contributions towards the development of Hindi language. He was the producer of the 'Braj-Bharati' program of Aakashwani, All India Radio, New Delhi. He had a multifaceted personality and had extensive knowledge of Hindi, Braj and English languages.

Shri Babu Ram Paliwal was born on 25 October 1907 in Kurri Kuppa in the Firozabad District of Uttar Pradesh near Agra. He pursued his post-graduation and attained his Master's degree in Hindi. He was married to Mrs. Keshar Kumari and was blessed with two daughters - Mrs. Yama Mudgal & Dr Bharati Paliwal.

No genre of writing remained untouched by his pen. He wrote poems, plays, short stories, biographies, articles, reviews and also translated many works. His poetry and prose changed with time. The main subject of his early poems was natural beauty. The second phase of his poems depict his subtle imagination and soft feelings of Chhayavad. His later poems emphasize on progressivism, thoughtfulness, philosophy, humanity and human welfare.

Work

Since 1928, he entered the service of the Government of India and held various posts. He was a Hindi officer in the Ministry of Communications. After that, he was an officer in the Hindi teaching scheme of the Ministry of Home Affairs. He was the producer of the Braj - Bharati program of All India Radio, New Delhi and an officer in the 'Hindi Centre - Talk Department'. Before 1945, he used to write under the name ‘Neelam Paliwal’

1. Karyalaya Nirdeshika (Office Directory) was awarded by the Government of India. It was published by Suniti Prakashan, Delhi in 1959. Six editions were published. It was awarded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh; approved by Railway Board for Hindi Training Centers and Railway Offices; approved by Army Headquarters, Government of India; accepted by Directorate General of All India Radio and education directors of Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh states. Prominent scholars of Hindi world, national-regional newspapers, magazines praised the usefulness of the book. Scholars like Rajarshi Purushottamdas Tandon, National poet Shri Maithilisharan Gupta praised this initiative of Shri Baburam Paliwal ji. Reviews of the book were published in leading newspapers and national magazines - Hindustan, Navbharat Times, Weekly Hindustan, Rajbhasha, Indian Express, Weekly India, Saraswati, Navbharat, Aajkal congratulated Shri Baburam Paliwal on the utility of the book.

8. Khel-Khel Mein, a collection of four one-act plays for children, published in 1959 by Suniti Prakashan, Delhi.

9. Dadi Ji Ki Mala, published in 1944 by Gyan Lok, Allahabad. It is a collection of songs for children. Many poems from this book were approved as the text book for primary education in Uttar Pradesh.

10. Chetna, is a collection of twenty-seven poems, published in 1949 by Rajkamal Prakashan, New Delhi. Mr. Balkrishna Sharma 'Naveen' wrote the foreword of this book. It is available in the Library of Congress, USA, Washington DC.

11. Kanak Kiran, a collection of forty one poems, published in 1945 by Maharathi Prakashan, Delhi. Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi, Dr. Ramkumar Verma, Professor Nagendra and Pandit Sohanlal Dwivedi have introduced the book.

12 Kavyadhara, is a collection of poems, published by Aragon Publishers, New Delhi.

Braj Bhasha and the Art & Culture expressed through it has the three fold importance:
