Teams[edit]
Changes[edit]
Red Star (promoted after 5 years absence) and Martigues (promoted return after 23 years absence). Since Ligue 2 is reducing in size, 4 teams will be relegated and only 2 promoted, so Troyes, Concarneau, Quevilly-Rouen, and Valenciennes will be relegated, (relegated after 1, 1, 3, and 10 seasons in the second division respectively). Troyes has now been relegated in two consecutive seasons and Valenciennes had been in the third division last in 2004-05. From Ligue 1, Lorient and Clermont Foot have been relegated to Ligue 2 (after 4 and 3 years absense respectively). Metz will play a relegation playoff against whoever wins the playoffs in Ligue 2. Auxerre and Angers were promoted to Ligue 1 (both after 1 years in Ligue 2)
