Osahon Okunbo

Osahon Okunbo is a Nigerian entrepreneur and investor specialising in oil and gas.[1] He is the founder and chairman of The Wells Carlton, a luxury hotel and apartment complex in Abuja,[2][3][4][5] and the founder of Live Lounge, an entertainment venue in Lagos.[6] He is also the patron of the Nigeria Film Museum, which is expected to open in 2024.[7]

Early life and education[edit]

Okunbo was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria to Mr and Mrs Hosa Wells Okunbo.[8][9][10] He attended the University of Salford in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Lagos Business School.

Career[edit]

Okunbo started his career in the oil and gas sector, working in various capacities such as facilities engineering, procurement, construction, and project management.[11][12]

Okunbo is the founder and chairman of The Wells Carlton, a luxury hotel and apartment complex in Abuja, which he launched in 2018.[5][13] Okunbo is also the founder of Live Lounge, an entertainment venue in Victoria Island, Lagos, which he opened in 2020. Live Lounge houses a comedy club, a music studio, a bar, and a restaurant.

Okunbo is a patron of the Nigeria Film Museum, which is set to open in 2024. The museum will be the first of its kind in Nigeria and will feature exhibits, archives, and memorabilia related to the history and development of the Nigerian film industry.[7]

Philanthropy[edit]

Okunbo founded the Osa Okunbo Foundation, a charitable organization that focuses on community development in Benin City, Edo State.[14] The foundation has initiated and supported various projects in the areas of education, youth empowerment, and essential services. Some of the foundation's activities include providing scholarships, building classrooms, donating books and computers, sponsoring sports tournaments, and distributing food and medical supplies.[15][16]
