BAMBII

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BAMBII is a Canadian DJ and producer,[1] who won the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2024 for her EP Infinity Club.[2]

She rose in popularity through the Toronto nightclub scene.[3] In June 2023 she performed at Melbourne's Rising arts festival.[4]

Infinity Club was released in August 2023. The release was rated four out of five stars by NME.[5]

Biography[edit]

According to BAMBII, she first began DJing whilst broke after having dropped out of school. She initially produced music using a laptop that was 'so broken and overheating that I had to carry around a baking dish, towel, and bag of ice to every club' she played in. She would place the ice under the laptop to get it to work long enough to play a full hour set. Bambii says that she did this for eight months until buying a new laptop.[6][unreliable source?]

She has described having 'terrible exes' and having thrown illegal raves with her friends whilst being targeted by the police. Later in her life after achieving success, she toured Europe and Asia.[6][unreliable source?]

BAMBII has described herself as having political views on gender, race, capitalism, and a 'child-like approach to nearly everything I do'.[6][unreliable source?]
