Thorpe founded Marc Thorpe Design, a design firm, in 2010 and started his career with architecture, interiors, furniture design, product design, and branding.[2]

The Mark Table, designed by Thorpe in 2010, was his first collaboration with Moroso.[3] In 2012, he designed the Blur Sofa and fabric for Moroso, of which the design gained considerable global media attention.[4][5]

In 2013, Thorpe designed the first retail space of Under Armour in Shanghai, China, a 2,500-square-foot interactive media experience space at the Jing An Kerry Centre. He won the Good Design Award for his architectural work for Under Armour.[6]

Thorpe designed the Morning Glory table collection for Moroso in 2014, which was presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy.[7][8]

In 2015, he began working in Senegal, West Africa, with Moroso on their outdoor collection M’Afrique. The same year, he presented a solo show, Blurred Limits, for Moroso in New York City.[9]

In 2016, he was featured as the cover designer of the French magazine Intramuros. In 2016, he was selected as the signature designer for Stella Artois to design their product collection, NOVA.[10]

In 2017, Thorpe’s design studio designed the 40,000 sqft private members club for the Classic Car Club in Manhattan, New York City.[11]

In 2019, Thorpe collaborated with Italian glass maker, VENINI, presenting his first solo collection.[12]

Since 2020, Thorpe focused primarily on sustainable designs, winning multiple design awards, most notably, the Green Good Design Award and the American Architecture Award in 2022.[13] Notable architectural projects include an eco-friendly village in Kampala, Uganda, using earth brick, the solar Sharp House in New Mexico [3], and most recently, under his development agency Edifice Upstate, the 100% off-grid solar-powered Fremont House in the West Catskills of New York.[14][15]

In 2022, Monsa Publications published first book entitled Marc Thorpe, Toward an Architecture of Responsibility.[16]

In 2023, Thorpe created the Fremont House, situated in the Western Catskill Mountains of New York. The architecture was a 100% off grid.[17]
