Hampton High School is a public secondary school located in Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada. A part of the Anglophone South School District, the school serves students from grades 9-12. The school is also home to the Hampton Huskies.

History[edit]

Early development[edit]

In August 1992, Hampton High School’s official school colours were chosen as black, silver and white, much to the dismay of the alumni of the former Hampton Consolidated School, whose school colours were green and white.[3]

Opening of the School[edit]

Hampton High School opened its doors on September 8, 1992, to around 640 students. The school was established to alleviate the overcrowding at Kennebecasis Valley High School, which at the time enrolled over 1,900 students.[4]

Hampton High initially housed grades 10–12. In August 1996, grade 9 was moved from Hampton Junior High School. In August 1997, grade 9 students from Macdonald Consolidated School moved in and four additional classrooms were added.[5]

School Campus[edit]

Hampton High School's campus includes multiple courses taught by approximately 30 teachers in 2022-23. The exterior of the school has a baseball/softball field, soccer field with a small, 400-metre track, tennis courts, a skateboard park, an outdoor basketball court, and a trail that leads to the town's Spooner Island.

Drama Productions[edit]

Most high schools' drama productions are some of a school's biggest events, and that majority includes Hampton High. These drama teams made of students work really hard all for a long time, and in parts of the year, they practice almost every day. It isn't just the on-stage performers that do a lot of work, but also these students that work behind the scenes. These drama productions showcase a lot of artistic ability from the students, and on show time, they get great feedback from their hard work and skills.

2023 Plays[edit]

Puffs, Comical Play- This play takes place in the world of Harry Potter, and showcases the life of Puffs at Hogwarts. However Harry Potter makes a brief appearance in the play, this play focuses on the Puffs and other characters in the world of the miscellaneous world of the Harry Potter series.[9] This play took place in the fall of 2022 at the Hampton High School theatre.

Shrek The Musical, Musical Play- The play is about the green ogre named Shrek, not unlike the original movies of Shrek. This unique reenactment of Shrek features creative lyric choices, and has a lot of unique scenes I'm sure everyone in the theatre enjoyed seeing.[10] This play took place in the spring of 2023 at the Hampton High School theatre.
