Kuyulu (Kurdish: Selekûn, Syriac: Shehirkan)[nb 1] is a village in the İdil District of Şırnak Province in Turkey.[3] The village is populated by Kurds of the Hesinan tribe and had a population of 394 in 2021.[1][4]

The hamlet of Tepeli is attached to Kuyulu.[3]

History[edit]

Shehirkan (today called Kuyulu) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians.[2] By the time of the Sayfo, the village was inhabited by 100 people in twenty families of whom half were slaughtered whilst the survivors escaped to Hah.[5]
