Jelena Z. Matone is global chief information security officer and an advocate for women's empowerment in technology. She is best known for her role as the CISO of European Investment Bank and Founding Board Member and the first President of the Women Cyber Force & Women 4 Cyber (W4C) chapter, a global initiative aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness, education, and gender equality in the industry.[1][2][3][4][5]

Background and education[edit]

Matone is a cybersecurity professional with an emphasis on cyber security risk management, IT operations, audit, risk mitigation, IT governance. She has won many awards, one of which the 2019 CISO of the year award for Luxembourg, Sentinel CISO Global 2020, EU CISO 2020, and Ambassador of the year 2021 in Luxembourg.[6][7][8]

Matone is the CISO of the EIB, and has also served as the Senior Operational Risk and ISO for the European Stability Mechanism, the crisis resolution mechanism for euro area countries.[9][10] Earlier in career, Matone managed IT Audit and Compliance for Sobey’s, one of the two national grocery retailers in Canada and Audit, Corporate Development, M&A and growth strategies and IT Audit for George Weston, one of the Canada’s largest publicly traded food processing and distribution companies.[citation needed] She speaks several languages.[citation needed]
